Gdańsk

22 March – 1 April 2020

Join an international group of artists on a 10-day residency in Gdańsk (Poland), a city torn apart by history and one of the biggest cultural centers in Poland. Under the guidance of American artist Lucas Reiner, participants will be invited to explore the theme of freedom, whose dynamism is best expressed by our ability to choose and engage.

The residency program will alternate times of individual and collective work, workshops (painting, graphic design, photo-video, performance, installation, writing…), cultural visits and meetings with some of the city’s foremost artists.

Lucas Reiner

Lucas Reiner was born in Los Angeles, California, in 1960. He is a painter, engraver and photographer, sharing his time between Los Angeles and Berlin. He has attended the Parsons School of Design and the New School for Social Research in New York, the Otis Art Institute in Los Angeles and the Parsons School of Design and American College in Paris.

Since 2001, the artist has focused on what he calls the « portrait » of curbside trees in his hometown, exploring the formal collision between organic growth and the constraints of modern urban life.
